Kansas Speedway Offering Reward on Stolen Items
KANSAS CITY, Kan. (February 8, 2018) – Kansas Speedway is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the earliest possible identification and arrest of the person or people responsible for the theft of Kansas Speedway equipment and vehicles last week. The theft occurred on Tuesday, Jan. 30 at 1:22 AM at the Kansas Speedway Maintenance building. The stolen items, which include electrical distribution cables, two trucks, a paint trailer, a number of small hand tools, air hoses, a safety harness, multiple paint sprayers, and a scooter, are all used to prepare the Kansas Speedway facility for race events and during race weekends. In addition, there was damage to the ignition lock of another truck. One truck has been recovered. The truck that has not been recovered is a red 2001 Ford F250 4x4. It had a Kansas Speedway logo on the door and a Ford Racing logo on the tailgate when stolen.
“I ask anyone that has any knowledge about this theft to please contact the Kansas City, Kansas police department immediately,” said Kansas Speedway President Patrick Warren. “I’m also asking for everyone to keep their eyes open in case anyone attempts to sell any of these items and to contact the police immediately.”
Kansas Speedway, a premier motorsports facility in the Midwest, hosts two NASCAR race weekends a year, in addition to hosting approximately 200 other events throughout the year. Kansas Speedway’s first race weekend of the season is May 11-12 with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series under the lights. In the fall, the NASCAR playoffs return Oct. 20-21 with the NASCAR XFINITY Series and Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. Also in the fall is the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards series finale.
