After being so close so many times, Martin Truex Jr. finally visited Gatorade Victory Lane at Kansas Speedway in today’s Go Bowling 400. The victory was his ninth in the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series.
During the final few laps, Truex had to be thinking to past races when all signs pointed to him winning and something going wrong. But everything went right, and Truex is taking home the trophy.
“We definitely earned it tonight,” said Truex. “This team is so good, we’re going to fight for wins anywhere we go. Tonight, everything went right.”
The race saw 21 lead changes among nine drivers, with Truex leading 104 of the 267 laps.
Brad Keselowski finished second, his eighth Top-10 finish in 15 races at Kansas Speedway. Kevin Harvick, a previous Kansas Speedway winner, finished third.
Kyle Busch, who finished fifth, won Stage 1 and Ryan Blaney, who finished fourth, won Stage 2. Jamie McMurray finished eighth and Clint Bowyer finished ninth. Rookie Daniel Suarez finished seventh.
Kyle Larson leads the point standings by 44 points over Martin Truex Jr.
