Kyle Busch has a troubled relationship with Kansas Speedway since the repave in 2012, in his last four starts in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in Kansas He has finished outside the top 30 three times. His best finish was in the 5-hour ENERGY® 400 this past May when he finished 15th.
Busch led 34 laps before going to Gatorade Victory Lane in the Kansas Lottery 300 NASCAR Nationwide Series race today at Kansas Speedway.
“We did really good here in the spring with our Toyota Care Tundra and won in that," said Busch. "I feel like our Cup car is okay, if we can get out of here with a top 10 day tomorrow that would be pretty good.”
Kevin Harvick, who won the pole for tomorrow’s Hollywood Casino 400 finished second, Ryan Blaney finished third and Paul Menard and Ty Dillon rounded out the top five.
Chase Elliott held on to his NASCAR Nationwide Series points lead after finishing 10th today; he leads teammate Regan Smith by 38 points.
The Sprint Cup Series ran two practice sessions for tomorrow’s race, Marcos Ambrose topped the first practice and Kyle Larson was fastest in the second practice.
