KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Oct. 18, 2019) – 18-year-old Christian Eckes was supposed to be nervous as he was battling teammate Michael Self for his first ARCA Menards championship.
After practice, Eckes team had to change engines. The nerves should have kicked in a little more, but Eckes drove with the confidence of a veteran who had made dozens of starts at Kansas Speedway.
As the laps wound down, Eckes remained in the lead and took the checkered flag to win the Kansas 150, along with becoming an ARCA champion.
With ARCA crowning their champion tonight, the focus moves to the Kansas Lottery 300 on Saturday as championship contenders look to solidify their spot in the final four at Homestead-Miami Speedway in a few weeks.
