Kansas Speedway Set to Host Spirit of the Heartland 200 Blood and Marrow Drive

Kansas Speedway will host its second annual blood and bone marrow drive - the Spirit of the Heartland 200 - on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008 in the Kansas Speedway infield in conjunction with the Community Blood Center and the National Marrow Donor Program.

Donors will make five pit stops - the average number of pit stops a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series car will make during the Kansas 400 on Sept. 28 - during the Spirit of the Heartland 200. Stop one will be at the information table where donors will learn what to expect during their time at Kansas Speedway.

Stop two will be registration and blood donation/marrow testing, the next stop will be for snacks and drinks, followed by stop four where donors will receive their goody bag and t-shirt, and have the opportunity to register to win prizes from Kansas Speedway. The final stop of the day will be pace vehicle rides around Kansas Speedway.

In addition to Kansas Speedway, the Community Blood Center and the National Marrow Donor Program, other sponsors include the NASCAR Foundation, the IndyCar Series, the Jimmie Johnson Foundation, the Hendrick Marrow Program, 98.9 the Rock and KCSP 610 AM.
