Project Restoration International tours Kansas Speedway

A group of second generation Chernobyl children took a tour of Kansas Speedway on Wednesday as part of Project Restoration International.

Project Restoration International provides the Republic of Belarus natives with medical and dental care as well as radiation rest to build up their damaged immune systems. The radioactive fallout from the 1986 Chernobyl Nuclear Power Station explosion in Ukraine affects still today the 33 children who took the tour.

The children visited Kansas Speedway as part of one of their planned activity days during their month-long stay in the Kansas City area.

They were able to see the Kansas Speedway suites, which offered them a unique view of the racetrack as well as the Kansas City skyline. To end the day, the children were given Kansas Speedway merchandise, such as hats and stickers.
