Edwards clinches NASCAR Busch Series Championship
Local NASCAR favorite Carl Edwards officially clinched the NASCAR Busch Series Championship on Saturday. Edwards finished in 11th place, locking up the title by Lap 162. The Columbia, Mo., native had entered the race with a 531-point lead over second-place David Reutimann. Edwards now has his first series championship, and the first NASCAR title for his team, Roush Fenway Racing. This is the second Busch Series Championship for team owner Jack Roush. He is also the last driver to receive the title “NASCAR Busch Series Champion,” since the series will be the “NASCAR Nationwide Series” starting in 2008. Anheuser-Busch’s 26-year sponsorship of the series ends after this season. This is the second year in a row that a full-time NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series driver has won the NASCAR Busch Series Championship. And Edwards did it with two races left on the 2007 Busch Series calendar. Kevin Harvick won the Busch Series Championship in 2006. Join Carl Edwards, Jeff Gordon and all your favorite drivers for the NASCAR Nationwide Series and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at Kansas Speedway in 2008. Call 866.460.RACE for tickets today.
