J Records Recording Artist Gavin DeGraw to Perform National Anthem at Kansas Speedway
Kansas Speedway announced today that J Records recording artist Gavin DeGraw will sing the national anthem for the LifeLock 400 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race on Sept. 30. This will mark the first time DeGraw has performed the anthem for a NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race. "We're excited to have Gavin here for the LifeLock 400," said Kansas Speedway President Jeff Boerger. "He adds to the overall fan experience at Kansas Speedway and is a great addition for the third race in the Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup." DeGraw's big break came when his song "I Don't Want to Be" was chosen as the theme song for the teen drama One Tree Hill. A native of upstate New York, DeGraw is a talented songwriter and has seen several of his songs featured in television shows. His first album "Chariot" has gone platinum and he has another album scheduled to be released this fall. Season tickets are on sale now and include the LifeLock 400, the third race in the Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup, the Yellow Transportation 300 NASCAR Busch Series race and April 2008's O'Reilly Auto Parts 250 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race and the IndyCar Series Kansas Lottery Indy 300.
