What Races are held at Kansas Speedway?
NASCAR Sprint Cup Series - This series is regarded as the premier stock car series in the world. It is the “pinnacle” of NASCAR, with all of the best drivers in the sport participating week in and week out. The racing is thrilling, with the best of the best battling it out in pursuit of becoming a Sprint Cup champion. A unique aspect of the NASCAR Sprint Cup is the “Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup” conducted at the end of the season in order to determine the champion of the series. In the Chase, only the top 12 drivers at the cut off point have a chance to win the championship. This leads to an extremely exciting, high pressure situation for all Sprint Cup drivers in order to crown a new champion every year.
NASCAR Nationwide Series - The up-and-coming stars of NASCAR as well as several NASCAR Sprint Cup Series veterans participate in the series. The NASCAR Nationwide Series is considered to be the last step before drivers graduate to the pinnacle of the sport, the Sprint Cup Series. The youth and competitiveness of the series make for a fantastic show and the drive to win these young guns exhibit often lead to heated battles on and off the track, as well as some spectacular crashes.
NASCAR Camping World Truck Series - This series is home to the toughest drivers in NASCAR. While the other series of NASCAR use car bodies over the chassis of the race car, the Camping World Truck Series utilizes truck bodies placed over the chassis and running gear. The result is the awesome combination of speed and toughness, with lots of paint being “traded” throughout the course of the season. Drivers in the Camping World Truck Series are not shy about forcing each other to get out of the way by any means necessary, as far more bumping occurs in this series than it does in NASCAR’s others.
IZOD IndyCar Series – The IZOD IndyCar series, well known as the race cars that race in the Indy 500 every year, is the premier open-wheeled racing series in North America. In contrast to the cars in the various NASCAR series of races, Indycars do not have any bodywork covering the wheels. They are much lighter than a Nascar and have similar horsepower. This, in turn, allows them to reach much higher top speeds. On the asphalt banks of the Kansas Speedway, IZOD IndyCar series racers blister the pavement with speeds approaching 220 MPH.
ARCA RE/MAX Series – The ARCA RE/MAX series is one of the last major oval track circuits to still compete on dirt tracks and the series has been racing since 1953. The drivers of the ARCA RE/MAX Series are often the youngest stars in racing, and they take very opportunity to showcase their skills, providing great racing at every stop on the calendar.
