Weather
Kansas Speedway Severe Weather Awareness – KNOW YOUR PLAN
Kansas Speedway, Wyandotte County Emergency Management and the National Weather Service will monitor the weather and make every effort to inform fans of any dangerous weather conditions that may threaten the area. That will be accomplished through PA announcements for those in the vicinity to hear that system. Campground notification will be aided by Kansas Speedway Security Staff, Police Officers and Fire/Rescue Personnel.
What fans should know:
• This facility may not provide protection from extremely high winds and tornadoes.
• Personal protection is your responsibility.
• Be proactive. Plan in advance what you will do if severe weather approaches the track.
• Fans are encouraged to monitor the weather very closely and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
You can also text 69050 to receive updates.
Why are the dates of
the races in 2012 changing to April and late October?
Given
the harsh weather conditions in the Midwest, a repave of our existing racing
surface is a must. Rather than simply resurfacing, we decided to
reconfigure the track surface to generate even more competitive racing.
More time is needed between our race weekends to ensure track improvements are
completed.
