Chase Elliott celebrates in Gatorade Victory Lane after his Hollywood Casino 400 win

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Oct. 21, 2018) – Chase Elliott is on a roll right now as he captured the win in today’s Hollywood Casino 400 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series elimination race. It was his second win in the last three races. Elliott is the youngest driver to secure a Cup Series win at Kansas.

“It was a really fun day,” said Elliott. “Every week you have to care about winning. You have to focus on winning every week. If you win, you give yourself a chance to win a championship.”

Asked about if winning at Kansas Speedway will help him at Homestead, Elliott said, “Kansas is really different from Homestead and both of them are different than Texas.”

Elliott’s first win at Kansas Speedway gave TJ Semke, who is from Lee’s Summit, Mo. and played football at the University of Kansas, an opportunity to visit Gatorade Victory Lane at his home track. Semke is the Jackman for Elliott.

The emotion throughout the race was palpable as eight drivers tried to advance to the next round. The post-race disappointment for Brad Keselowski, Kyle Larson, Ryan Blaney and Alex Bowman could be heard in their post-race interviews.

Kyle Busch finished second, his 10th Top-10 finish at Kansas Speedway and Kyle Larson finished third, his fourth Top-10 finish at the track.

Kansas native Clint Bowyer advanced to the third round of the playoffs, along with Elliott, Aric Almirola, Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch, Kurt Busch, Martin Truex Jr., and Joey Logano.

Kansas Speedway, a premier motorsports facility in the Midwest, hosts two NASCAR race weekends a year, in addition to hosting approximately 200 other events throughout the year. Tickets for the 2019 season will be on sale soon.

General parking is always free at Kansas Speedway and fans can bring in one 14x14x14-inch soft-sided cooler with their favorite food and beverages.
