Frequently Asked Questions for Operation Octane:

 

Q: What time is the event?

A: Gates are open at 3 PM and racing begins at 6 PM. The event concludes at 11 PM.

Q: How much does Operation Octane cost?

A: $10 per spectator, $30 per drag race participant (must be pre-registered and have paid registration fee).  Children ages 12 and under are free. Parking is free in General Parking near Gate A. Preferred parking is $10 in the infield per car in addition to the regular admission cost per person. Q: Can I purchase tickets in advance?

A: No.

Q: How do I access the free parking?

A: Enter Kansas Speedway on Phoenix via State Avenue. From there, you’ll enter the Turn 4 parking area.

Q: When and where do tickets go on sale if I’m entering via the Grandstands?

A: Tickets will go on sale at 3 PM at Ticket Booth A. Spectators will be allowed to sit in the Grandstands in Turn 4 starting at 3 PM.

Q: I want to be in the infield. How can I do that?

A: At 6 PM, fans will be able to access a crossover gate that will give them access to the infield from the grandstands in Turn 4 and vice versa. Before 6 PM, fans will only be able to access the infield by entering the tunnel on France Family Drive. Parking in the infield costs $10, plus the admission price of $10 per person.

Fans looking to watch the drag racing from the infield will have ample time to make it from the grandstands in Turn 4 to the infield before the event begins.

Q: I’m participating in the event. Where do I enter?

A: Participants should enter on France Family Drive from Village West Parkway. The infield tunnel is accessed from France Family Drive. Prior to entering the tunnel, you will pay your participant entry fee.

Q: Where can I sit?

A: The Grandstands in Turn 4 offer the best view if you want a seat. Fans will be able to watch from the infield and parts of the track, but there will not be any seating in these areas.

Q: Does Kansas Speedway have parking for ADA guests for Operation Octane?

A: Yes. ADA guests may park either in General Parking by Gate A where there will be spots marked off for ADA Parking. Additionally, ADA parking is available in the infield. ADA guests do not need to pay the additional $10 for parking in the infield but will still need to pay the $10 per person entrance fee.  

Q: How early should I arrive?

A: Fans can purchase tickets starting at 3 PM and may enter immediately. We encourage everyone to arrive early.

Q: Will concessions be sold?

A: No

Q: Can I bring in coolers?

A: Yes! 14x14x14 soft-sided coolers are allowed. You are allowed to bring in food and beverages in your coolers. Please no glass containers or alcoholic beverages.

Q: Can I bring beer or any other alcoholic beverage?

A: No.

Q: Can I compete in the drag racing?

A: Spots for the drag racers have already been filled and no other entries are being accepted at this time.

Q: Can I smoke at Kansas Speedway?

A: Smoking is prohibited in the grandstands.

Q: Can we camp at Kansas Speedway this weekend?

A: No camping is allowed. Security will begin escorting people out after 11 PM.

Q: Is there a car show?

A: No.

Q: Can I bring a bag in and if so, how many?

A: Kansas Speedway allows one (1) bag no larger than a lightweight daypack or backpack (similar to what a school student uses) and one (1) soft-sided cooler no larger than 14x14x14-inches.

Q: Are strollers permitted?

A: Yes, if accompanied by a child.

What can I bring in?

  • One SOFT-sided cooler or bag up to 14x14x14 inches (telescoping handles/wheels OK)
  • One school size backpack
  • Food and Beverage of your choice (NO alcohol and NO glass)
  • Strollers (if accompanied by a child)
  • Stadium Seat Cushions (no metal tubing please)
  • Binoculars
  • Blankets
  • CamelBaks
  • Cameras
  • Umbrellas (please don't use yours in the grandstands as it will block the view for others)
  • Selfie Sticks (Must have telescoping handle)

Restricted Items: What you should leave at home:

  • Firearms, Sheath knives, Fireworks and items restricted by Local, State and Federal Laws
  • Glass (broken glass could cause injury)
  • Stadium Seats with Metal Hooks and/or tubing (every seat has a back)
  • Pets (only approved service animals ok)
  • Folding chairs
  • No Thermoses or Hard Sided Coolers
  • Bicycles or skateboards
  • Flag Poles
  • Drones
  • No collapsible dollies to transport your coolers

Q: What's the best way into the race track?

For those entering the infield.

Traveling West on Interstate 70:

  • Take the exit for I-435 North to State Ave. West.
  • Take State Ave west to Village West Parkway and turn right.
  • Take Village West Parkway to France Family Drive and turn left.

Traveling East on Interstate 70:

  • Take the 110th Street/Speedway Blvd. exit.
  • Turn left onto Speedway Blvd.
  • Turn right onto Village West Parkway.
  • Continue on Village West Parkway to France Family Drive and turn left.

From I-435 North or South:

  • Take the State Ave. West exit.
  • Take State Ave west to Village West Parkway and turn right.
  • Take Village West Parkway to France Family Drive and turn left.

For those parking by Turn 4:

Traveling West on Interstate 70:

  • Take the exit for I-435 North.
  • Proceed on 1-435 North to State Ave. West.
  • Proceed on State Ave. West to Phoenix Drive.
  • Turn left on Phoenix Drive and continue you reach Parking by Gate A

Traveling East on Interstate 70:

  • Take the 110th Street/Speedway Blvd. exit.
  • Turn left onto Speedway Blvd.
  • Follow Speedway Blvd to the stoplight on State Ave. and turn right.
  • Take State Ave. to Phoenix Drive and turn right.

 

From I-435 North or South:

  • Take the State Ave. West exit.
  • Proceed on State Ave west to Phoenix Drive and turn left.
