The Race to the Chase Heats Up

As the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup gets closer, many teams are willing to take big chances to come away with a victory to secure a wild card spot for the Chase. Brad Keselowski, who earned his first victory this season in the STP 400 at Kansas Speedway became the first driver to earn multiple victories outside of the Top 10 this past weekend in Pocono and it’s looking like one win may not be enough for a driver to earn a wild card spot in the Chase. Denny Hamlin currently holds the second wild card spot because of his 11th place spot in the point standings. There are currently four drivers between 11 and 20 with wins- Keselowski, Hamlin, Paul Menard and David Ragan – and only two Wild Card positions. The next seven races should provide plenty of excitement.

The Sprint Summer Showdown

The Sprint Summer Showdown continues this weekend after Paul Menard and Brad Keselowski captured the first two events. The winners of Indy, Pocono, Watkins Glen, Michigan and Bristol will be eligible for the $3 million dollar prize that will be split three ways: a million each for the driver, the driver’s charity and one lucky fan.

NASCAR to Turn Left and Right

This weekend the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series goes road racing at The Glen and when NASCAR goes road racing, drivers like Boris Said and P.J. Jones come to shake up the competition. The last time a road course ringer won a Sprint Cup race was 1973, however they keep coming back to attempt to pull off the surprise victory.

Stenhouse Leads Going Into The Glen

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. leads the point standings going into this weekend’s race at Watkins Glen. Stenhouse hopes to carry momentum from his victory in Iowa into this weekend and pull into victory lane for the third time in 2011. Only 12 points separate Stenhouse and second place Reed Sorenson and 29 points separate Stenhouse and third place Elliot Sadler.
