Sleep Not on the Agenda for Fan Headed to NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Banquet

Las Vegas is known as the city that never sleeps and one lucky NASCAR fan plans to put that to the test Dec. 4 – 6.

Lincoln, Nebraska resident Lisa Clover and Susan Gibbs of Leawood, Kan. each won a trip for two to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series banquet from Kansas Speedway.

Clover has been attending Kansas Speedway races since 2001 when the facility opened and is no stranger to entering NASCAR-related contests.

“I enter a lot of NASCAR contests and have won some t-shirts, but this is the biggest thing I’ve won,” said Clover. “I’m still speechless but I’m stoked about going to the banquet. I’ve been a NASCAR fan for years and like a lot of the drivers. It takes more than one driver to make a good NASCAR race which is why I like a lot of different drivers.”

Clover, who’s dream job is to work for NASCAR, met current NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Director John Darby in 2001 when he was working with another series in NASCAR.

“I was in our hotel lobby talking to a group of people about life and how they needed to enjoy their life. As they got up to leave, one of the men handed me his card and it was John Darby. Whenever I’m at Kansas Speedway, I always yell over to him. Everyone down there probably thinks I’m crazy.”

Clover has never been to Las Vegas and wants to take advantage of the opportunity.

“This is my first trip to Las Vegas and I want to do everything I can,” said Clover, who volunteers at her local Humane Society. “I don’t plan on sleeping. I want to do as much as I can while I’m there.”

Don’t worry Lisa, as they say “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.”
