Michael McDowell visits KC
NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Michael McDowell will be at Metropolitan Community College this Thursday, July 24, to speak about NASCAR safety with MCC students and train with police on a high-speed Emergency Vehicle course. The public is welcome to join. WHEN: Thursday at 1:30 p.m. WHERE: Metropolitan Community College – Blue River Campus Precision Driving Course 20301 E. 78 Hwy. (same as 23rd street) in Independence – course is approx. 1 mile east of Campus (approx. 2 miles east of MO 291) McDowell is a rookie with Michael Waltrip Racing. Earlier this year, McDowell was involved in a hard crash during qualifying at Texas and walked away with only a few bruises; he will discuss NASCAR safety with law enforcement and MCC students prior to his high-speed training. McDowell races at Kansas Speedway in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Kansas 400 on September 28. For tickets to the upcoming race weekend, call 866.460.RACE.
